Umluj Beach in Saudi Arabia makes list of top 100 beaches worldwide

The dreamy destination is the perfect escape…

When people think of Saudi Arabia, they think dream desert days, city escapes, and so much more, but a beach getaway rivalling the Maldives? Might be lower on the guessing list. Enter: Umluj Beach in Saudi Arabia.

With its cerulean seas and sugar-white sands, you could be forgiven for thinking you’d landed in the latter. This postcard-perfect town on the edge of the Red Sea is home to more than 100 islands and, for now, it is still largely undiscovered. Swim, snorkel and scuba the crystal-clear waters.

The list by Beach Atlas, which is a London-based startup, used an algorithm to shortlist 100 beaches according to six criteria. The criteria include classic beauty, inclusivity, lifestyle, community, natural diversity and cultural significance.

Umluj Beach made it to number 41 on the list. Beaches across the GCC including the UAE, Egypt and Qatar also made the top 100 list.

Beach Atlas said that the spot offers a perfect retreat for those looking to unwind beside the crystal-clear waters of the Red Sea. With its beautiful beaches lined with white sand and soothing palm trees, here at What’s On, we can honestly say that the beach experience is unlike any other.

Number one on the list goes to Bora Bora, while the rest of the top ten include Boulders Beach in South Africa, Waikiki Beach in Hawaii, JBR Beach in Dubai and more.
