All you need to know about Diriyah Gate's Wadi Safar project in Riyadh

A unique destination that celebrates Saudi Arabia’s cultural and historical authenticity…

The impressive plans for the Diriyah Project, PIF’s fifth giga-project, have already seen the grand opening of the Unesco World Heritage Site At-Turaif and the premier dining district Bujairi Terrace in December 2022.

As the project continues to develop, it will also see the transformation of the beautiful Wadi Safar – known for its unspoiled landscape and rich cultural traditions – into a luxurious hospitality district with a stylish Beverly Hills feel.

In a move that will see the project enter an exciting new phase, Diriyah Company has awarded a SAR8 billion contract to two contractors, Urbacon Saudi Co and Al Bawani Co Ltd to build four of the luxury hotels, as well as the Royal Diriyah Equestrian & Polo Club as part of the Wadi Safar masterplan.

Within the wider Diriyah megaproject, a total of 42 hotels will be built, but this new construction contract is for four of them at Wadi Safar: Aman, Six Senses, The Chedi, and Faena.

Aman Wadi Safar

Located in the jaw-dropping beauty of Wadi Safar, the Aman Hotel at Diriyah will be designed with traditional mud-brick architecture within the wadis and plateaus of Wadi Safar. The hotel promises 78 rooms, 34 branded residences, a spa, and restaurants.

Six Senses Wadi Safar

Six Senses will have an 80-room hotel in Wadi Safar on a hill overlooking the golf course. The Six Senses property (which is part of IHG Hotels & Resorts) promises crafted experiences that encourage a reconnection to the region at the brand’s Wadi Safar site.

Faena Wadi Safar

The celeb-loved brand born on Miami Beach is heading to the breathtaking surrounds of Wadi Safar. Plans for a Faena hotel in Saudi Arabia have already been announced for The Red Sea, making this the second property in the Kingdom from the iconic brand.

The Chedi Wadi Safar

General Hotel Management Ltd (GHM) teams up with Diriyah Company for The Chedi Wadi Safar, The property will draw upon Diriyah’s rich past and the centuries-old At-Turaif UNESCO World Heritage Site for its design, heightened by the serenity and tranquility of the Wadi Safar landscape.

The new construction contract will see the creation of the Royal Diriyah Equestrian and Polo Club, a testament to Diriyah’s growing status as a premier destination for sports and leisure. Once completed, the club will house 180 horses in its stables and have two polo fields. A VIP lounge, pro shop, restaurant and polo lessons will also be available for members.

Although not part of this construction deal, Wadi Safar will also become home of the Royal Diriyah Golf Club, designed by golf legend Greg Norman.
