Riyadh Air is now licensed and ready for takeoff

The airline just got its GACA Air Operator Certificate…

Riyadh Air, Saudi Arabia’s brand-new national carrier, is that much closer to launching this year, and it’s all thanks to the issuance of its GACA Air Operator Certificate certificate. What this means is the airline is now officially authorized to commence scheduled flights to and from airports across the Kingdom.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, the President of GACA Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej handed over the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) to Chief Executive Officer of Riyadh Air Tony Douglas, in the presence of Minister of Transport and Logistic Services and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser,

Riyadh Air has successfully fulfilled all regulatory and operational requirements in accordance with the executive regulations of the Civil Aviation Law.

Riyadh Air is set to take off in the third quarter of 2025. The much-discussed new Saudi Arabian airline was initially planned to launch in the summer, but it’s now set to receive its first Boeing 787-9 later than planned, which will push back its launch.
