Possibly the most well-known of the public libraries in Riyadh, the King Fahd National Library was established in 1990. The library consists of a ground floor plus three additional floors, crowned by a planetarium. See it from the street, and you’ll be marvelling at the architecture. Picture rhomboid textile awnings, marked by their play with revealing and concealing, inserted white membranes, supported by a three-dimensional, tensile-stressed steel cable structure, acting as sunshades and showcasing the Arabian tent structure tradition in a modern, technological way. Home to over 2.4 million items, including books, manuscripts, and rare documents, it’s the perfect place to go analogue and get lost in a book or, of course, study for the quizzes and finals you’ve got coming up.

Escape the chaos and dive into a world of tranquillity at The Cultural House. Located in the King Salman Science Oasis, it is part library, part science space, and part storytelling lab. Spread across two floors, the library is divided into quiet rooms and common spaces, making it perfect for both group projects and solo study sessions, too. The best part? There’s a cafe and a vending machine right indoors so you can get your caffeine and snack fix.
