Saudia will soon fly direct to four new destinations in China, the UK and Africa
Pack your bags for Beijing, Birmingham, Kano and Johannesburg…
Saudia is once again expanding its route networks and adding flights into unique destinations. Among the new places you’ll soon be able to travel directly to and from Saudi Arabia are cities across China, the United Kingdom, and Africa.
The national flag carrier of Saudi Arabia has announced that it will add four new international destinations later in 2023: Beijing in China, Birmingham in the United Kingdom, Kano in Nigeria, and Johannesburg in South Africa.
However, the exact launch dates and details for each route are yet to be announced.
Unlocking new destinations
Always wanted to tick the majestic Great Wall of China off your bucket list? The new route will offer flights to China’s capital Beijing – home to a wealth of historical sites and a unique architecture and art collection. Whether you want to bask in the city’s beauty by visiting the Unesco World Heritage sites or immerse yourself in the memories of old Beijing with Hutongs, the capital city offers a wide variety of places for a holistic experience.
The new Saudia service will also see the arrival of a direct flight to Brum, so you can tick off the UK’s thriving canal city with outings to some of its eye-popping modern architecture and attractions, as well as tours of its best-loved restaurants, art exhibitions and cafes.
If a trip to Africa is in the pipeline, Saudia will add flights to Kano in northern Nigeria and Johannesburg in South Africa. Not the usual travel destination for many, use Kano as a gateway to discover Nigeria’s rich history, culture and natural landscapes.
Meanwhile, in South Africa’s Johannesburg, explore the city’s thriving arts scene, well-established café culture, and Soweto, the country’s most populous township. Jo’burg also offers some of the best nightlife and bustling neighbourhood markets to give you a taste of the local vineyards and artisan foodies, with craft and design thrown in.
“The opening of four new air routes across three different regions is the result of strong collaboration between the Saudi tourism and aviation ecosystems,” said Ali Rajab, CEO of the Saudi Air Connectivity Program (ACP). “These new routes offer a diverse mix of travel opportunities in the Kingdom, unlocking its rich cultural heritage and inviting travellers from around the world to experience the beauty and diversity of this remarkable destination.”
This development follows the Kingdom’s recent push to attract more tourists to the country and diversify its economy by investing heavily in the tourism sector, simplifying and facilitating travel procedures, and enhancing the travel experience for guests through initiatives like “Your Ticket, Your Visa”.
