AlUla International Airport is getting a new terminal and here's what we can expect

To provide easier accessibility and further enhance the experience of those visiting AlUla, the Royal Commission for AlUla has announced a new terminal for AlUla International Airport.
The second terminal is intended to have a design capacity to handle six million passengers per year compared to the current 400,000.

The new terminal’s design was unveiled during the Future Investment Initiative meeting, as reported by Saudi Press Agency.
The terminal seeks to give a pleasant experience to travellers, with its designs drawing inspiration from AlUla’s ancient urban heritage of the historic site. The design, chosen from a competitive global bid, incorporates infrastructure that blends with its cultural and natural surroundings.
The airport’s total area will also be expanded to about 2.4 million square meters, with the ability to accommodate 15 aircraft on its flight deck simultaneously.
The expansion elements in the new design will feature high-end amenities, including a luxurious five-star hotel, a spa, an extensive selection of retail outlets, and various services and facilities.
Capturing the essence of AlUla from touchdown to take-off, the new terminal is poised to be a cornerstone of every visitor’s journey. Not only does it revolutionise AlUla’s connectivity to the global stage, making it an easily accessible jewel for international travellers, but it’s also set to be a memorable destination in itself.
While no details have been provided in terms of the procurement timeline for the project, the announcement is consistent with the governorate’s plan to anticipate the expected growth of air traffic in AlUla as a global destination.
AlUla International Airport currently handles flights from international and domestic airlines, including Saudia, Saudi Arabia’s budget airline Flynas, flydubai and Qatar Airways. They operate direct flights in and out of AlUla International Airport from Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Dubai, and Doha.
