Wadi Cinema is bringing its edge to Riyadh’s Jax District, transforming it into a fantastic fusion of contemporary and decadent cinema. It is also uniquely situated at the Kingdom’s first Biennale, overlooking Wadi Hanifa.
The opening night of the festival will act as a tribute to David Lynch, where you can catch screenings of films like “The Straight Story” (1999) at 6.30pm and “Eraserhead” (1977) at 9pm. On day two, you can catch the Egyptian film “Mr. Rambo” (2024) at 7pm and “Bird”(2024) at 10pm.
On the last night of the pop-up, we can look forward to seeing “All We Imagine As Light,” directed by Payal Kapadia at 7pm and “To A Land Unknown,” directed by Madi Fleifel at 10pm.
After the screenings, there will also be live discussions featuring the likes of “Mr. Rambo” filmmaker Khaled Mansour, and a debate discussing the cinematic impact of late American filmmaker David Lynch.
Tickets for the pop-up have already gone on sale and cost SAR30. To score tickets, you can message Wadi Cinema on their official Instagram account.
The first edition of the pop-up came to Riyadh as part of the Diriyah Biennale from December 16, 2021 to March 11, 2022 which hosted panels for directors, actors, and critics to highlight the art of filmmaking in its various forms and discuss the context of production in the Arab world.
