Inside At Suhail Ramadan tent by The St. Regis Riyadh

The St. Regis Riyadh brings back its elegant Ramadan tent for a second season of generous buffets and warm hospitality

Every Ramadan, the city fills with beautifully designed tents vying for attention. A few, however, manage to stand out without trying too hard.

The spot

Enter At Suhail Ramadan tent by The St. Regis Riyadh – it quietly delivers a refined setting, where ambience is as important as the food.

Now in its second year, the Ramadan tent returns to VIA Riyadh in a dedicated pop-up structure within the district. Hosted by The St. Regis Riyadh and set just steps from the hotel, it still feels like a standalone Ramadan destination within VIA Riyadh’s polished setting.

The tent’s name itself is inspired by the Suhail star, a celestial guide respected in Arab history, symbolising guidance, hope, and togetherness. It’s a considerate detail that subtly connects the tent’s concept back to tradition.

The vibe

Walk through the entrance, and the space immediately feels calm and welcoming. Despite its size, At Suhail doesn’t feel overwhelming.

The tent fills quickly as guests arrive for Iftar. The tables, albeit being fairly close together, give the room a lively, social energy. There’s a stage at the front where live music plays throughout the evening.

The design draws inspiration from the warmth of a Saudi home rather than a lavish ballroom. Decked out in shades of green and lavender – colours that symbolise the Kingdom’s heritage and hospitality – you’ll also find subtle details that make the space feel elegant without being ostentatious.

The food and drinks

The buffet offers a wide variety of cuisines, from Saudi and Middle Eastern favourites to Asian, Mediterranean, and international dishes. Each station is a glistening display of the day’s offerings and fresh produce that’s sure to whet appetites.

Love seafood? Look forward to fresh options such as prawns, calamari, mussels, octopus, and salmon in several forms – from fresh and smoked to even baked.

Some dishes not to be missed include the sushi selection, lamb mugalgal, the mixed grill, and the impressive whole ouzzi carving. The live pasta station is also worth a stop, especially for the gnocchi.

For drinks, a server moves between the tables, carrying an elaborate display of vessels on his back, stopping to pour cups of Vimto, a Ramadan staple, while a nearby Lyre’s mocktail counter serves a selection of refreshing mocktails.

To round off your Iftar, At Suhail‘s dessert station is one of the most extensive as well, with a slew of local sweets, chocolate treats, tarts, pastries, and cakes. Little diners will definitely be big fans of the decadent chocolate fountain.

If you’d rather not rush dessert, we recommend stepping outside to the outdoor seating area to enjoy coffee and something sweet.

What’s on the bill

Expect to pay SAR580 per person for the standard Iftar experience, or SAR700 for VIP seating. The prices include VAT and valet parking, and there’s also 25 per cent off the Iftar experience on weekends.
