The Red Sea is adding more flights for Eid Al-Adha escapes this May

Getting to The Red Sea just became a whole lot easier, with 32 extra flights added and a packed line-up of beach clubs, surf sessions, Michelin-starred dining and island stays awaiting

Planning an Eid getaway? With the Eid Al-Adha travel season kicking off soon, The Red Sea is making last-minute holiday plans within Saudi Arabia a lot easier.

Red Sea Global (RSG) has announced an additional 32 flights to The Red Sea destination between Thursday May 21 and Sunday May 31, giving travellers more options to swap the city for turquoise waters, island resorts and desert landscapes over the long break.

The Red Sea activities

Flights to The Red Sea are operated by Saudia, Qatar Airways and flydubai.

The expanded schedule comes as demand for Saudi Arabia’s luxury tourism destination continues to climb, particularly during peak holiday periods, when last-minute trips are practically a national sport.

Travellers flying from Riyadh will see the biggest increase, with 46 flights in total, including 24 additional services. Jeddah will see 18 flights, eight of which are new.

International visitors can also fly in from Dubai and Doha, with eight flights scheduled from each city for the same period.

The additional flights mean easier access to one of the Kingdom’s most talked-about destinations – and the timing could not be better.

Currently, The Red Sea is home to nine hotels, each offering a distinct escape. If your idea of a holiday involves dramatic desert scenery and a complete switch-off, there’s Six Senses Southern Dunes and Desert Rock. Prefer private-island energy? Check into St. Regis Red Sea Resort or Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve.

If you’re after a livelier atmosphere, Shura Island is also home to some of the destination’s buzziest hotels, including stays at SLS The Red Sea, The Red Sea EDITION and InterContinental The Red Sea Resort.

And then there’s ADRENA, the destination’s new adventure district, quickly becoming a reason to visit in its own right. Think wakeboarding, skate parks, surf pools, zip lines and giant inflatable obstacle courses. It’s also home to Saudi Arabia’s largest saltwater surf pool, which measures 215 metres and produces waves up to 2.1 metres high.

The Red Sea cultural performances

For Eid, visitors can also expect live music, late-night jazz sessions, beachfront BBQs, shopping pop-ups featuring Saudi brands at Shura Marina, and even a five-course tasting menu by renowned chef Osman Sezener at Desert Rock.

Family-friendly experiences include poolside activities, a kids’ DJ festival and nightclub, and marine-themed edutainment. International surf brand Hurley will lead a series of activations at ADRENA, while a dedicated Ladies Day will run at the district on Mondays and Thursdays.
