flynas adds five new direct routes from Riyadh
Pack your bags for Rome, Munich, Budapest, Podgorica, or the Maldives
If you’re making summer holiday plans, you’ve got a new collection of destinations to consider thanks to the launch of five new flight routes from Saudi Arabia.
From late June, the Kingdom’s low-cost carrier flynas will launch direct flights from Riyadh to Rome, Munich, and Budapest, alongside the return of seasonal flights to the Maldives and Podgorica in Montenegro.
Plus, each route will operate three times weekly, making long weekends and easy summer breaks far more doable.
Here’s the full list of flynas’ new direct routes from Riyadh, as part of its summer 2026 network.
From June 20: Riyadh to Maldives
For those dreaming of a tropical paradise getaway, a new flight route will resume once again to connect Riyadh and the Maldives. Known for its overwater villas, powder-soft white sand beaches and impossibly turquoise waters, the Maldives remains one of the world’s most sought-after holiday destinations. Scattered across the Indian Ocean, the island nation is made up of around 1,200 coral islands, with many luxury resorts occupying their own private stretches of paradise.
Seclusion, serenity and laidback island living are all part of the appeal, whether you’re planning a romantic retreat or simply looking to switch off for a long weekend. flynas will operate direct flights between Riyadh and Malé, with flights departing Riyadh at 4.50am and arriving in the Maldives at 12.55pm. Return flights depart Malé at 1.55pm and land back in Riyadh at 5.55pm.
From June 24: Riyadh to Munich
If idyllic views, amazing food, striking art collections, and laid-back European charm are your thing, Munich deserves a spot on your travel list. The capital of Bavaria sits about 50 kilometres north of the Alps and is known for its beautiful green spaces, grand architecture, buzzing beer gardens, and relaxed Bavarian lifestyle. Beyond the postcard-perfect streets, Munich blends old-world charm with a modern edge, with trendy cafés, contemporary galleries, riverside hangouts, and excellent dining.
Nature lovers are also spoilt for choice, with nearby lakes, cycling routes, and easy access to the Alps. Passengers can look forward to three weekly flynas flights on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday. Flights depart Riyadh at 5.10am and arrive in Munich at 9.50am, while return flights leave Munich at 10.40am and land back in Riyadh the same day at 5.20pm.
From June 24: Riyadh to Podgorica
Podgorica may not be Montenegro’s polished tourist capital, but there’s something quietly charming about it. Its streets are a mix of Ottoman remnants, Austrian-style facades, brutalist buildings and glossy new developments. And while it may not have the fast-paced energy of other European capitals, Podgorica has its own understated appeal, from leafy parks and riverside spots to galleries and a lively cafe culture. It also serves as a great base for exploring Montenegro’s coastline and mountains.
As part of its summer 2026 network, flynas will resume direct flights between Riyadh and Podgorica, operating one daily afternoon flight from King Khalid International Airport on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The journey takes approximately four hours and 45 minutes, while evening return flights to Riyadh take around four hours and 20 minutes.
From June 25: Riyadh to Rome
Why wouldn’t you want to see the best of Rome when it’s reachable in five hours and 30 minutes from Riyadh? Meanwhile, it’s just a breezy five hours on the return. Known as the Eternal City, Rome’s history stretches back more than 3,000 years. From haunting ancient ruins and awe-inspiring art to bustling piazzas and lively street corners, Italy’s charismatic capital remains one of Europe’s most captivating destinations.
Its historic centre is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to more than 900 churches, centuries of layered architecture and some of the world’s most iconic landmarks, including the Colosseum, St Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel. flynas will operate direct flights between Riyadh and Rome three times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Flights depart Riyadh at 6.15am and arrive in Rome at 10.45am, with the return service departing from Leonardo da Vinci Airport (at Fiumicino) at 11.45am and landing back in Riyadh at 5.45pm.
From June 26: Riyadh to Budapest
Nicknamed “the Paris of the East” due to its picturesque setting and architecture, Budapest is a majestic city with an aquatic heart bisected by the Danube River. Its 19th-century Chain Bridge connects the exceptional beauty of the hilly Buda district with the pulsating nightlife of Pest. The “Queen of the Danube” is also steeped in history, culture, and natural beauty.
The Hungarian capital is one of Europe’s most delightful and enjoyable cities. flynas will operate direct flights between Riyadh and Budapest three times weekly on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Flights depart Riyadh at 6.40am and arrive in Budapest at 10.40am, with the return journey taking less than five hours, departing Budapest at 11.30am and landing in Riyadh at 5.10pm.
