Handrolls are having a moment in Saudi Arabia, specifically in Jeddah. Just last month, the city welcomed in Aiku, the restaurant home to Saudi Arabia’s first dedicated handroll bar. Now, we’re welcoming Dubai-favourite Yubi Handroll Bar in Jeddah.
Brought to life by multi-award-winning Chef Reif Othman (and 7 Management in Dubai), YUBI was the UAE’s first licensed homegrown handroll bar. It will showcase a world-class curation of dishes, all a curation of Chef Reif’s culinary genius.

In Dubai, YUBI draws inspiration from Japanese street culture and hip-hop. The venue alone pulses with energy, blending music, fashion, and design that brings the raw creativity of the streets into a one-of-a-kind dining destination. And yes, if you’re wondering… it is Instagrammable per What’s On Dubai.
Here, guests can look forward to freshly prepared handrolls made right in front of their eyes. Beyond the namesake, the menu features Japanese favourites, including buttery sashimi, fresh nigiri, salads, and hot dishes like rich wagyu gyozas and tori ramen as well, offering traditional Japanese flavours with a contemporary flair.
Handrolls, or temaki in Japanese, are a type of sushi made by hand-rolling a sheet of crisp seaweed (nori) into an open cone or cylinder shape, and filling it with seasoned sushi rice and ingredients like fresh fish, seafood, or vegetables. These rolls are then meant to be eaten immediately.
When it comes to handrolls, the spot serves up classics like your spicy tuna and prawn tempura to more elevated signature rolls like akami and foie gras and Japanese wagyu and shrimp tempura.
This is Singaporean-born Chef Reif Othman’s first foray into the Kingdom. Currently, the chef sits as the CEO of 7 Management, the people behind nine iconic concepts in the UAE. So, we can’t see what the company has in store for the Yubi Handroll Bar in Jeddah.
