As the name suggests, the focus here is Japanese barbecue, or robatayaki, to be more precise, but that’s not to say the restaurant doesn’t make incredible sushi as well. For its newly introduced handrolls, you can take your pick from toro, tuna, traditional California, and prawn tempura too.

Location: Robata, The Canopy, Hittin, Riyadh 13512

Timings: Sat to Wed 1pm to midnight, Thurs & Fri 1pm to 1am

Myazu

Possibly one of the most famous Japanese restaurants in Riyadh, Myazu is a fan-favourite and for good reason. Located in the heart of Sulaimaniyah, Myazu truly revolutionises the way we appreciate Japanese cuisine (because, mind you, not all rolls are created equal). Plus, there’s a lot more to the cuisine than your usual orders of California rolls (though, that’s not a bad pick either). Here you can choose from shrimp tempura, A5 wagyu, crispy duck, and spicy salmon.

Location: Musad Bin Jalawi, As Sulimaniyah

Timings: 1pm to 1.30am

Kayzo

So this one might be a team favourite (or maybe just this reporter’s). A darling of the Riyadh restaurant scene, Kayzo has really come into its own over the last two years. Even winning an Editor’s Choice award at the What’s On Saudi Arabia Awards 2025 for Homegrown Restaurant of the Year. Handroll options here include salmon and wagyu striploin.

Location: 2752 Prince Musaid bin Abdulaziz bin Jalawi Street, As Sulimaniyah

Timing: 1pm to 1.30am

ROKA

After spending some time on the bench, ROKA Riyadh has officially reopened, and one of the first orders of business was to introduce handrolls to the menu. Experience the art of temaki up close as the chefs craft each hand roll right before your eyes. Enjoy a front-row seat to the flavours, precision and theatre of ROKA Riyadh. Choose from spicy tuna, king crab, crispy prawn, raw salmon, and yellowtail maki.

Location: 5140 Prince Muhammad Ibn Abd Al Aziz, As Sulimaniyah,

Timing: Sat to Wed 1pm to midnight & Thu to Fri 1pm to 12.30am
