Saudi Arabia unveils plans for a SAR511 million massive Hejaz Eye project
The huge Ferris wheel will be located in Madinah
You’ve heard of the London Eye; now meet Saudi Arabia’s very own version: the massive Hejaz Eye project in Saudi Arabia. Currently still in the very initial planning stages, here’s everything we know about the new project.
The new attraction is valued at SAR511 million (USD135 million) and is listed on the Invest Saudi platform, which features more than 2,200 investment opportunities across various sectors. The project is planned on a 33,700 sq m site in Madinah, an area roughly equivalent to five football fields, according to Construction Week.
A stable economy, rapid diversification, and a robust regulatory framework that supports sustainable business growth.

At the moment, the proposed plans do not include the planned height of the Ferris wheel; the Hijaz Eye is set to become a major visitor attraction that would offer panoramic views of the city.
The massive Hejaz Eye project in Saudi Arabia will be a large cantilevered observation wheel; a Ferris wheel is one of the most popular paid tourist attractions, which will lead pilgrims and tourists to the site. The project aims to “enrich the experience of pilgrims” while supporting greater cultural engagement among visitors.
The platform estimates that the project could deliver returns to investors within approximately seven years. The proposed development plans align with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals, which place tourism growth, cultural experiences and private sector investment at the centre of economic diversification efforts.
The new project was revealed via Invest Saudi, where the Kingdom has listed and is looking to attract private sector investment for the development of a landmark Ferris wheel in Madinah as the Kingdom continues to expand its tourism offerings and encourage greater private participation in major destination projects.
At the minute, an opening date/year has not been revealed, but stay tuned to What’s On Saudi Arabia for the latest.
