Construction on the dome now complete…
The Jeddah Super Dome has set a Guinness World Record for being the largest freestanding dome in the world. The Tokyo Dome formerly held the title with 206 metres.

Located on Madinah Road, west of King Abdullah Sports City, the Jeddah Super Dome has an internal area exceeding 24,000 square metres, a height of 46 metres, a diameter of 210 metres, and a parking space that can accommodate 5,200 vehicles.
The Jeddah Super Dome will be hosting all local and international exhibitions, conferences, and events, including some of the biggest entertainment, sports, and other cultural events in the city.
The venue, however, should not be mistaken for the Jeddah Dome in the Sharafiyah district. The much smaller cultural venue, home to art exhibitions and poetry readings, was built in 1978 and recently underwent restoration.
First major exhibition since Covid outbreak
The Makkah Region Digital Projects Exhibition is the first event to be held at the Jeddah Super Dome.
The week-long exhibition – organised by the Emirate of Makkah Province and inaugurated by Makkah Governor Prince Khaled Al-Faisal and his deputy, Prince Badr bin Sultan – features digital presentations showcasing the accomplishments of the province and its development projects.
The event, which runs until June 15, includes presentations about more than 100 development projects in the region over the past 14 years. These focus on the use of technology to improve city life in a few areas, such as environmental quality, safety, education, and community development.
During the inauguration ceremony, Prince Khaled Al-Faisal also honoured nine winners of the Makkah Excellence Awards and some of the region’s health teams in appreciation of their heroic role in countering the coronavirus pandemic.
The number of visitors at the exhibition will be limited, and social-distancing measures enforced to safeguard public health and hand-sanitising stations will be available throughout the venue.
Concerts ramp-up

The next event to be held at the Jeddah Super Dome will be a public concert by Egyptian singer Amr Diab.
Diab is no stranger to Saudi Arabia, having performed large shows in the capital city, including 2019’s mega music festival MDL Beast. However, his return to Jeddah will be significant as it may well be the first concert held in this new venue.
The concert will take place on June 18 and tickets are already on sale.
