Everything we know so far about the Jeddah Central Project

With Saudi Arabia’s sights firmly set on Saudi Vision 2030, new neighbourhoods and giga-projects are under construction all across the Kingdom. In Jeddah, it’s the Jeddah Central Project that visitors and residents should get excited about, which is set to become a world-class destination at the heart of the city.
The masterplan for the project, formerly called New Jeddah Downtown, was unveiled by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman last month. Covering an impressive plot of more than 5.7 million square metres, it will add an array of leisure attractions, hotels and residential to the coastal city in Saudi’s western Hejaz region.
Among the highlights, four new landmarks will include an opera house, museum, sports stadium and oceanarium, which will play host to plenty of world class events. Visitors will be able to enjoy leisurely strolls along the coastline – which stretches some 9.5 kilometres – marvel at yachts bobbing in the 500-berth marina, and dip their toes in the water at a 2.1 kilometre beach. A collection of restaurants, cafes and shops will add to the burgeoning leisure scene. Elsewhere, there will also be a collection of 17,000 residential units and 2,700 hotel rooms across a diverse array of hotel projects, for those looking to either check-in or move-in to Jeddah Central.
The full project, being developed at a cost of SAR 75 billion ($20 billion) will be completed in three phases. Phase one will welcome visitors from 2027, according to a statement from developer Jeddah Central Development Company.
