The Chedi set to open a stunning boutique hotel in AlUla's Hegra
The luxury hotel will feature three fine-dining restaurants, a spa, swimming pool, and 35 guest rooms…
Planning a dreamy desert staycation this year? AlUla is undoubtedly a bucket-list destination with countless experiences around some of Saudi Arabia’s most beautiful and unspoiled landscapes. This site opened to global travellers for the first time in 2020 and visitors can now explore the remarkable and rich historical and archaeological site.
The legendary Hegra, Saudi Arabia’s first official UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a collection of 110 tombs set in the middle of the desert. It’s here that guests will be able to check-in to The Chedi Hegra: a new boutique luxury hotel opening in Q4 2023.
The Chedi Hegra will be built directly into already existing structures including an old railway station, Hegra Fort, and surrounding buildings.
The majority of the UNESCO site will remain untouched while some structural and exterior walls, including some with historical mud-brick construction, will be preserved and intergrated with modern architecture.
Each of the 35 guest rooms are designed to evoke the “art of travel” with minimal interiors to bring the focus to the surrounding environment as well as custom lanterns and leather furniture honouring the heritage.
As a breathtaking testimony of human expression within the natural environment, many of the buildings will be connected with an overhead art canopy focused on wind movement and natural light.
As well as a café, a spa, and a swimming pool, guests will have the choice of three fine-dining restaurants: one inside the old railway station, another will sit within Hegra Fort, and the third will feature unobstructed views from a sunken water basin seating area.
Also coming soon…
Named after AlUla’s famous sundial, Dar Tantora will be opening in AlUla’s Old Town very soon. The boutique hotel rooms were made from sensitively restored mudbrick buildings bringing back a touch of ancient living with just a hint of luxury.
The eco-hotel will give guests a wonderful sense of history for an authentic AlUla experience. There are up to five rooms with traditional decor and minimal modern technology to ensure you can fully relax and go off the grid for a little bit.
