Saudi Arabia announces official holiday for Saudi National Day 2023

Long weekend incoming…

Just in: The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) has announced that Saturday September 23 is an official holiday for the private and public sectors in celebration of Saudi Arabia’s 93rd National Day, according to Saudi Gazette.

Sunday September 24 is, therefore, a paid holiday, which means we’ll have a three-day weekend. Work will resume as usual on Monday September 25.

New identity for 93rd National Day

This year’s National Day public holiday will be held under the slogan, “We dream and achieve”. The phrase reflects the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 blueprint for sweeping economic, societal and cultural reforms and was inspired by the dreams that have already become reality for the nation.

They are reflected in the Kingdom’s notable projects, and those featured as National Day 93 identity projects are the Diriyah Gate Project, the al-Subaiba Solar Power Plant Project, the AlUla Development Project, the Kingdom’s Astronaut Program, The Cube Project, the Electric Car (CEER) Project, THE LINE Project, the Sindalah Project, the AlSoudah Development Project, the King Salman Park Project, and the Sports Boulevard Project.

Four songs have also been selected to mark the special day. They are: “Our Date 2030”, “Above the Clouds”, “Yes”, and “My Home Is Here”.

A day of unity and pride

Saudi Arabia celebrates its National Day annually on September 23 to commemorate the unification of the nations of Najd and Hijaz into the modern Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This historic merger took place in 1932 under the leadership of King Abdulaziz Ibn Saud, marking a pivotal chapter in the nation’s history.

The occasion is typically marked with fireworks, parades packed with floats showcasing the highlights of each region of Arabia, music and traditional outfits, as well as loads of offers and promotions.

National pride is palpable everywhere across the country, too. You’ll notice the streets lined with Saudi flags, people decorating their cars and homes, and buildings lit up in green for the day.

You can also look forward to the various festivities taking place over the long weekend, such as the Azimuth music festival in AlUla. Watch this space for more Saudi National Day 2023 events.
