THE RIG: inside the first global destination for adventure tourism
The master plan has just been revealed…
Inspired by the design of offshore oil platforms, THE RIG, the world’s first tourism destination on an offshore platform, is all set to welcome a host of brilliant venues according to its newly unveiled masterplan.
The Oil Park Development Company, one of the Public Investment Fund Companies, and the main one responsible for constructing THE RIG has just outlined an ambitious vision that will redefine marine sports and adventure tourism globally.

Located 40 kilometres from the coast and near Al Jarid Island and the Berri oil field in the Arabian Gulf, the area
The unique destination will extend over a building area of more than 300,000 square metres and is expected to attract over 900,000 visitors annually, including a wide range of local, regional and international visitors.
THE RIG is set to offer a little something for everyone, be it thrill-seeking adrenaline junkies or those out for a relaxing escape.
The venue will also be home to three hotels with a total of 800 rooms, 11 restaurants, a park for adventure games and thrill sports, an international marina, and helipads. Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy a group of water activities.
There will also be a special focus on diving, in addition to an amusement and water park, an electronic sports centre, an interactive theatre, and a multi-purpose arena.
An opening date has not yet been revealed, though it is expected to take people on board by 2032.
