In case you missed it, Nusr-et Riyadh is closed

Just less than two years after opening, the well-loved restaurant has closed up shop in Cenomi U Walk…

Do you remember Salt Bae? Well, we’ll never forget his signature flick of the wrist, a shower of salt, and the 24-karat gold-wrapped tomahawk – even if the pricey dishes meant it wasn’t an everyday spot.

When news of Nusr-Et Steakhouse opening in Riyadh in November 2021 broke out, it lured countless fans to the massive venue in Cenomi U Walk. The Riyadh location was the 28th restaurant run by the internet sensation (real name: Nusret Gökçe).

However, it seems that Salt Bae is no longer the viral phenomenon that he once was. We’re not sure how we missed this, but Nusr-Et Riyadh has closed its doors.

A quick check on the website shows that the Riyadh location has been removed entirely from its Middle East presence, and Nusr-Et Riyadh’s last Instagram post was dated March last year – which means that the upscale restaurant appears to have closed its chapter after only about one and a half years here.

Now, if diners want a taste of Salt Bae, you’ll just have to travel to Doha, Dubai, or Abu Dhabi, where the existing Nusr-Et Middle East locations are.

And while the Turkish steakhouse stint in Saudi Arabia has come to an end, we’re still waiting to find out what will take its place in Cenomi U Walk. So, stay tuned.

Other notable restaurants in Riyadh we’ve said goodbye to:

Hotel Cartagena

The Latin American restaurant from Dubai has sadly said adios to Cenomi U Walk. Hotel Cartagena was known for its lively entertainment, stunning décor, and party vibes.

Nobu

It was a short but sweet run for Nobu Riyadh in the what was Nobu Riyadh Hotel after making it for almost two years. While its last Instagram post stated the new Nobu Riyadh Hotel on King Fahad Branch Road will reopen in 2022, our recent visit to the location shows that the entire building is set to be replaced by The O Hotel. Watch this space as soon as we have more details.

OKKU

Opened in December 2018, this multi-award-winning restaurant has officially closed its doors. OKKU was known for its superlatively slick surroundings and innovative twists on Japanese classic dishes.
