Book your dreamy desert staycation today…

AlUla is certainly a bucket-list destination for many, no matter how many times you’ve been (including me, twice and counting, I hope). The serene location has just welcomed an all-new luxury hotel within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site. Welcome to The Chedi Hegra.

Known for opening the most stylish and memorable hotels and resorts in unique destinations worldwide, The Chedi by GHM Hotels in Hegra is home to 35 rooms, three dining venues, a spa, and a swimming pool.

The Chedi Hegra is built directly into already existing structures, including an old railway station, Hegra Fort, and surrounding buildings. The majority of the UNESCO site has remained untouched, while some structural and exterior walls, including some with historical mudbrick construction, will be preserved and integrated with modern architecture.

Each of the 35 guest rooms are designed to evoke the “art of travel” with minimal interiors to bring the focus to the surrounding environment, as well as custom lanterns and leather furniture honouring the heritage. Originally old houses, the rooms also overlook the wildlife reserve, home to indigenous bird species and rare desert animals. Room categories range from the Chedi Deluxe Rooms to a Duplex Suite and a Two-Bedroom Pool Villa

The architecture seamlessly incorporates the windswept desert’s awe-inspiring, ancient red rock-hewn structures into its striking contemporary design. The fine-dining restaurants will all be located in the Hegra Fort, the old Hegra Railway Station, and an old-time sunken water basin.
At the hotel, you can pick from dining options like Prima Classe Restaurant, which invites diners to take a gastronomical journey from Paris and Venice due east to Cairo, creating flavours unlike any other.
There’s also Al Mahatta, where you can go to enjoy some quiet contemplation in the amazing presence of handcrafted pastries, desserts, coffees, and mocktails. Lastly, there’s also a Saudi Coffee House where you can explore traditional Saudi coffee brewed with cardamom.
Room rates currently start from SAR3,195 per night, but are subject to seasonal changes.
