Saudi nationals and GCC citizens can still perform Umrah

This is the latest update

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has stated that Saudi nationals and GCC citizens can still perform Umrah until early May.

Saudi nationals and GCC citizens will be allowed to perform Umrah until the 15th of Dhul Qada, corresponding to May 3, without the need for a Hajj permit to enter Makkah.

The ministry had previously stated that the last day for visa-holding pilgrims to exit the Kingdom would be the first of Dhul Qada (corresponding to April 19), after which preparations for the Hajj season would begin, marking the transition into the Hajj season as international pilgrims begin arriving in Makkah and Madinah. The ministry emphasised the necessity of adhering to the rules of the Hajj season. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has stated that Hajj must be performed with a valid Hajj visa and shall not be performed with an Umrah visa.

According to Gulf News, in the final days before the cut-off, large numbers of domestic Umrah performers have gathered at the Grand Mosque, with Saudi and GCC citizens travelling from across the country to take advantage of the remaining window. Hotels surrounding the mosque have reported high occupancy rates, particularly over weekends, as demand surges ahead of the Hajj period.
