New Dakar Rally 2024 route announced

It’s official. Motorsports fans listen up, the notoriously tough Dakar Rally is coming back for its fifth edition in Saudi Arabia. And with it, a new Dakar Rally 2024 route is coming too.
The annual rally will be taking place from Friday January 5 to Friday January 19 2024. The new route starts off in the gorgeous city of AlUla with 60 per cent new tracks across all the stages.

Moving forward, the Dakar Rally 2024 route will cross the country in the direction of the Rub’ al Khali (Empty Quarter) and finish in Yanbu, on the shores of the Red Sea. The track is expected to be just as challenging as the fourth edition last January.

The 2024 version of the rally will also introduce the new 48-hour stage which will take place in Rub’ al Khali. For the new stage, there will be a time limit for stopping (4pm) before you set off for the next day at 7am to complete the course.
The nitty-gritty of the route…
In total, the route will cover 5, 000 kilometres divided across 12 stages and 14 days of racing. There will be nine bivouacs will be set up across the route. For the new 48-hour stage, as soon as the clock strikes 4pm, drivers will be required to stop the very next bivouac they come across until 7am the next morning.
The terrain forges two separate courses, one for motorbikes and quads and the other for cars and trucks.
Last year, Saudi Arabia host the fourth edition of the Saudi Dakar Rally featuring a group of the most outstanding international riders. The event saw more than 1,000 people racing for the finish line about 7,500 kilometres away.
