Passengers entitled to receive compensation include those whose flight departures ahead of schedule, or when there’s a delay in departure or cancellation of flights. You will also be entitled to compensation if you face a refusal to board the plane due to overbooking, and downgrading.
Like we said, some of these compensations can amount to 150 per cent and 200 per cent of the ticket value. The new Saudi flight rules also call for compensation equivalent to SR6,568 upon loss of luggage and in the event of damage, defect or delay of baggage, the passenger is entitled to compensation not exceeding SR6,568.
The regulations also account for an unannounced stopover point when in-flight, so travellers will be compensated in such circumstances too.
The Vice President of the General Authority for Civil Aviation for Quality and Traveler Experience, Eng. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Dahmash reaffirmed that the new regulations reflect the authority’s interest in the satisfaction of travellers, and its keenness to improve the travel experience in the Kingdom’s skies.
