Forget the treadmill - this gym class happens 2,200 feet above Riyadh

GymNation is raising heart rates after introducing the World’s Highest Gym Class to its timetable, where members can get the health benefits from working out at 2,200 feet in the sky

Riyadh just got the world’s highest gym class, and it’s not for the faint-hearted. GymNation, the region’s most disruptive and fastest-growing fitness brand, has sent social media into a frenzy with the launch of the World’s Highest Gym Class.

Known for pushing boundaries with innovative classes, GymNation’s latest concept takes fitness to new heights – quite literally – lifting members 2,200 feet above Riyadh for a heart-pumping session in a hot air balloon, complete with jaw-dropping skyline views. Yes, really.

Because a regular gym floor just doesn’t cut it anymore

For those interested, the World’s Highest Gym Class takes off every Saturday throughout January, with very limited spots available.

The class has been developed in collaboration with leading health and safety experts to ensure a safe and memorable experience for both participants and onlookers.

The session starts on the ground with a lively warm-up and stretch before things really lift off. Participants then ascend to about 2,200 feet above Riyadh, where a 30-minute full-body strength and conditioning workout takes place mid-air.

Expect a combination of bodyweight and weighted exercises – all cleverly renamed for the occasion – including:

  • Cloud Crushers (squats)
  • Altitude Lunges (lunges)
  • Overhead Ascent (overhead press)
  • Wing Spans (lateral raises)
  • Bicep Take-Offs (bicep curls)

And while your muscles work hard, your eyes get a treat too. The class offers sweeping views of Riyadh’s most famous landmarks, from Kingdom Tower and Majdoul Tower to Al Faisaliah Tower, making it one of the best gym views in the world.

So… whose idea was it to put a gym class in the sky?

GymNation

The sky-high class was developed alongside GymNation’s award-winning fitness team and leading sports scientist Aderito Manuel, following GCC research revealing that 67 per cent of exercisers now prefer memorable, experience-led workouts over traditional routines.

Altitude training has long been a preferred method for elite athletes and professional sports teams, and this very principle formed the basis of the World’s Highest Gym Class.

Additionally, it increases red blood cell count and haemoglobin, helping your muscles receive more oxygen and recover more quickly. It’s a popular technique for runners, cyclists, and HYROX athletes seeking to improve endurance.

Plus, you can burn 5 to 15 per cent more calories just by taking your workout to the sky.

Want to curl with Kingdom Tower in sight or squat while peeking at the Majdoul Tower? Bookings are now open, so grab your spot here and take your fitness to new heights.
