You can now get 50 per cent off on Riyadh Metro tickets

The Riyadh Metro has been making lives easier since it opened by providing affordable and clean public transport to residents and citizens alike. Big emphasis on ‘affordable’, as now you can get 50 per cent off on Riyadh Metro tickets.

The project aims to reduce congestion in the capital in high-traffic zones and is now expected to be used by more than 1 million passengers annually, especially with the newly introduced 50 per cent off on Riyadh Metro tickets. The news was announced via Twitter.

The following categories are eligible for the new discount

  • All students 
  • Senior citizens (60 years and above)
  • People with disabilities (with one companion)
  • Cancer patients (with one companion)
  • First-degree relatives of martyrs

What are the ticket prices without the discount?

Standard Class

  • Two-hour pass: SR4
  • Three-day pass: SR20
  • Seven-day pass: SR40
  • 30-day pass: SR140

First Class

  • Two-hour pass: SR10
  • Three-day pass: SR50
  • Seven-day pass: SR100
  • 30-day pass: SR350

Passengers can select destinations and purchase tickets seamlessly via the Darb app, which is available for download in mobile app stores; purchase passes at the station; or pay via bank cards at the gates.

More about the Riyadh Metro

The Riyadh Metro covers six main lines and 84 stations, covering a distance of 176 kilometres. The network covers most highly populated districts, government facilities, and key educational and commercial areas.

The six lines are:

  • Blue Line: Olaya to Batha’a, covering a 38-kiloemetre distance
  •  Red Line: King Abdullah Road, covering a 25.3-kilometre distance
  •  Orange Line: Al Madina Al Monawara to Prince Saad bin Abdul Rahman Al Awal road, covers a 40.7-kilometre distance
  •  Yellow line: King Khaled International Airport Road, covering a 29.6-kilometre distance
  •  Green line: King Abdul Aziz Road, covering a 12.9-kilometre distance
  •  Violet Line: Abdul Rahman bin Aouf road to Shiekh Hassan bin Hussain bin Ali road, covering a 30-kilometre distance
