When the urban plan for the first-ever city built for play was unveiled by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Prime Minister and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC), we knew it was destined for greatness.
Work is well underway at the city of the future, and one of the most ambitious projects the world has ever seen is progressing rapidly. The newly released video shows major movement in the progress at Qiddiya, especially in the construction of Six Flags and Aquarabia. Located on the outskirts of Riyadh, nearly 40 minutes away, the new destination promises endless enjoyment for its residents and visitors through unparalleled offerings in entertainment, sports, culture, and urban living. And now we’re seeing progress at Qiddiya.
Qiddiya City will also include the first gaming and esports district of its kind in the world which will become a global hub for competitions, a speed park track, golf courses, a gigantic water theme park, Six Flags Qiddiya, and a multipurpose stadium. The city anticipates nearly 48 million visits per year with its array of world-class attractions and venues.
The world’s first gaming district
The Qiddiya Gaming District will boast four dedicated esports venues and host a year-round calendar of some of the biggest esports events, with a combined peak esports tournament seating capacity of 73,000 across the destination.
Aquarabia
The gigantic water theme park, now known as Aquarabia, is set to be the biggest of its kind in the region and will feature 22 rides and attractions, including record-breaking waterslides. It will feature five world firsts, such as Junoon Drop, the world’s tallest water coaster; Speedy Jamezales, the world’s tallest drop body slide; Slithereel, the longest water slide; and Jamal Joom, the longest mat racer.
